Creating an outdoor space to suit your home can be a difficult thing to imagine. Working out the size of the area you want to be covered can be hard enough without going into the choice of materials and colours.
Getting this right can often make or break the appearance of the newly created outdoor patio.
Getting the size right is often the biggest mistake as often the patio can be too small and it's filled up with outdoor settings and the like.
However, for this home in the Perth suburb of Belmont, the elevated decked area and the double window door frames were exposed to the best and worst of Perth’s weather.
The owner’s wanted to create a space that they could open the double doors and have an extension of the inside to outside.
With the minimal space available our design consultant suggested making the patio slightly larger than the decked area.
This offers the illusion that the area is larger than it really is while also offering the cover they wanted with an opportunity to extend the decked area if they feel they want to add more floor space.
Keeping this in mind the selection of the Stratco Cooldeck insulated roof panels adds to flow from inside the home to outside. The raised flat design offers not only a window section along the back but also follows the fall of the house roof above the double doors.
The colour choice also helps give the new patio a light look with Surfmist frame, Woodland Grey posts and the Cooldeck roof is Alpine.
With the new patio installed the owners can now add the electrical work with LED downlights and a fan.
Future plans will see the extension of the deck with full-length stairs to the backyard that will really open up this patio for future entertaining.
