This new house in Ellenbrook was crying out for some shade and shelter. Shade from the baking Perth summer sun. Shelter from the winter rains.
We are blessed in Perth to have some of the worlds best weather. Our summers can get very hot and the UV can burn. So shade in the summer is a no brainer. But even during a Perth winter rain event, the air is still mild so sitting outside is still very pleasurable. Not if your getting wet however. So a patio is an all round investment on your lifestyle.
Stage 1: The Patio Quote
This picture below shows the house in Ellenbrook when we quoted the proposed patio area. A nice area to sit, with a wide area closest to the camera, and a narrower area toward the front of the house. Our salesman would offer many options to cover this area. Two popular options are what we call 'Truss in Truss' and 'Cut off Truss'. A truss in truss as it name implies is a larger truss (gable) with a smaller truss (gable) inside of it. The smaller truss would be the width of the narrower area, the larger truss the width of the wider area.
Stage 2: Deciding on a Gable Patio Design
The option the customer agreed upon however was a 'Cut off Truss'. This means that the truss (gable) is cut off when it reaches and runs along the narrower area. This in effect creates an 'infill' window, where we add a diffused polycarbonate material to not only seal the area, and also allow light to enter the area.
Stage 3: Patio Installation
To finish the job off in the best possible way, our patio installers always re-cut and refit the paving in the patio area where the posts go. This way we leave nothing for the owners to do, except relax and enjoy thier new shady patio area.
